The Grand Trunk Western Historical Society currently produces the quarterly magazine The Semaphore in hardcopy and electronic editions. The hardcopy and electronic editions are 24 pages, unless otherwise noted. The later hardcopy versions starting with Volume 1 Issue 29 feature color front and rear covers, while earlier Semaphores are 100% black & white.

The electronic editions are produced in Adobe Acrobat format (i.e, PDF) and feature 100% full color photography (excepting original B&W photography). They are made available to subscribers either (1) on compact disc mailed to the member or (2) via subscriber-initiated electronic download over the internet. The electronic download method of delivery is the lowest-priced subscription option. The better value for the member is the electronic edition while also helping to reduce postage and publishing expenses and consumption of natural resources.
